December 2017

Dear Friend of Eclipse,

I’m writing to you because you and I know what it is like to share a special experience with the Eclipse Chamber Orchestra—that instant before a performance begins.

Sitting close to the players in an intimate setting, you perk up your ears while the musicians’ eyes lock on the maestro’s baton. When those first notes float out, you begin a journey of musical discovery with some of the finest musicians in the Washington, DC, area.

As we celebrate our 26th year, we also mark the second season under the dynamic baton of Maestro Abel Pereira, who is committed to offering exuberant and memorable repertoire. In addition to these full chamber orchestra concerts, Eclipse musicians also perform chamber music recitals, offering much-loved and new works to rapt listeners.

For an Eclipse concert you only pay a donation of your choice, while children and students attend free. As someone aware of funding in the arts, you know your help sustains non-profit chamber concerts and student music education through an adopt-a-school program. You know that concert proceeds are not enough.

Eclipse is reaching out now to seek your assistance with an end of year tax-deductible gift. Patronage by classical music lovers like you can help foster this cherished art form. Can I count on your contribution to Eclipse this year?

Every amount you have already provided is gratefully appreciated. For some perspective: a donation of $50 helps cover the cost of renting music, $150 goes towards an hour of rehearsal, while $500 pays for the rental of performance space. Any amount, large or small, will help us meet our many artistic expenses.

On behalf of Abel Pereira, Eclipse musicians and board, I thank you warmly for past donations. Today I ask that you promote the joy you have experienced with Eclipse and continue your tax-deductible generous support.

With warmest thanks to you and best wishes for the New Year,

Theresa Cigan
President, Board of the Eclipse Chamber Orchestra
